KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Wednesday demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari convene a roundtable conference to take the nation into confidence over the intrusion of US helicopters into Pakistani airspace during the bin Laden operation.A statement by the MQM chief urged the president to convene a roundtable conference of all political and religious parties of the country within 36 to 48 hours. He also asked Zardari to invite the head of the armed forces and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief to the talks.The MQM chief said that the entire nation was grieved over the “criminal silence and ambiguous statements” coming from the Government of Pakistan and its intelligence agencies.He further added that the government and institutions responsible for the defence and sovereignty of the country should apologise to the nation on their negligence and carelessness.
